Reeve & Council

Council includes the Reeve and four Councillors. All Council members are elected for a four-year term and are elected at large by all voters in the municipality.

Council is responsible for the governance of the Municipality and actions are guided by provincial legislation.  Council establishes policies and makes decisions affecting the municipality by passing resolutions and by-laws.

Staff are responsible for carrying out the decisions made by Council as a whole.

The Township of James' current Reeve and Council were sworn into office in November, 2022.

Notice: Resignation, Councillor McIntyre

The Township of James announces that Councillor McIntyre has tendered his resignation, effective April 17, 2026. The Clerk’s office received formal notice of this decision on the same date.

In accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, Council will officially declare the Council seat vacant during its meeting on May 13, 2026. Following this declaration, the process to fill the vacancy will proceed as outlined by provincial regulations.

We extend our gratitude to Councillor McIntyre for his contributions to the Municipality during and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
