Bi-Weekly Recycling pick up in December, 2025.

Please make sure all your recycling is bagged in clear bags. There is a recycling depot available at the landfill site.

As of January 1, 2026, recycling in James will transition to a cart-based collection system, with pickup moving to every other Monday (January 5th, January 19th) starting at 7am. Recycling carts will be delivered in December. Learn more about your new recycling cart here. James’ recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Ontario.

 

 

 

 Garbage

Every Thursday beginning at 7:00 a.m there is garbage pick up.   Please have your garbage bagged and in bins so the animals don't get into it. Limit of 5 bags at the curb.

  • Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

 Recyclable Materials

• PAPER PRODUCTS – newspapers, magazines, computer paper, pamphlets, flyers, envelopes, writing paper, cardboard, boxboard, cereal boxes, old corrugated cardboard, tissue boxes, soup boxes and shoe boxes, etc.


• ALUMINUM /STEEL CANS - used for food and drink


• GLASS JARS AND BOTTLES – used for food and drink


• PLASTIC CONTAINERS – plastic containers labeled with #1-7


• Electronics (has to be light enough for one man to carry)


• Ink & Toner cartridges


• Batteries


• Styrofoam used for packaging/shipping


• Milk and juice cartons


• Tetra-paks (juice box type materials)


• Aerosol cans


• Empty paint cans


• Aluminum foil and plates

 NON-Recyclable Materials

  • PAPER – such as wax paper, paper towels, waxed grocery boxes
  • METAL – coat hangers, metal pots and pans
  • GLASS – such as drinking glasses, cups, dishes, window glass, light bulbs, mirrors, pottery, glass pots and pans, make up jars
  • PLASTIC – all plastic material which does not have the #1-7 recycling symbols.
