Elk Lake Eco Resource Centre

The Elk Lake Eco Resource Centre is a new multi-million dollar facility dedicated to fostering dialog, education, research and innovation that integrates economic and community stability with ecological sustainability in resource based economies. Our objective is to link people from industry, government, non-government and academia to the issues and decisions associated with the multiple-use of natural resources in northern landscapes. In general, the Centre is best described as a natural resource management issue resolution, educational and conference facility.

The Centre is situated on 5 acres of land on the shores of the Montreal River in the community of Elk Lake in Northeastern, Ontario. Construction of the 7000+ sq. ft. main building, which includes an exhibitory area, seminar rooms, office space, lounge, a licensed dining area and full commercial kitchen is complete. Also onsite and recently constructed are six cabins capable of accommodating a minimum of 35 overnight guests.

The Elk Lake Eco Resource Centre is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and has relied on the generous financial and in-kind contributions of many individuals, companies and organizations. The Centre is very grateful to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and FedNor for their founding support.

For further information, please contact the Centre at (705) 678-2248 or access the Centre’s website at www.elklakeeco.com.
